Three children, all of them girls, have died in al-Kalakla neighbourhood,  Khartoum State, due to acute malnutrition raising the number of such death cases to 8 within two months, the Sudan’s Emergency Response Rooms said on Wednesday.

Two of the girls were  aged 4 years and 9 months and had been hospitalised in a health center in al-Kalakla while the third had been admitted to the Turkish hospital,  the voluntary network said.

The Emergency Response Rooms called on the local community, health institutions and humanitarian organisations to promote health care and health awareness efforts to address this  crisis.

The ongoing fighting  between the Sudanese Armed Forces and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has led to a large scale food insecurity in the country with millions of people particularly children facing hunger and malnutrition.
